Matero Legacy Academy

Matero Legacy Christian Academy

Matero LCA is a non-profit, tuition-based school. We rely on the generosity of individuals, businesses, foundations and churches to help meet the financial needs of the school.

Located in the heart of the great city of Lusaka, Zambia. Matero LCA is a Christian school that seeks to provide quality education in an environment that nurtures the whole person – spiritually, academically, physically and emotionally.

We believe that all students can learn and be successful when they are given the opportunity to do so in an atmosphere of Christian love and acceptance. Matero LCA offers primary through grade 12 education.

We exist to develop students who are academically excellent, spiritually mature and socially responsible citizens who will impact their world for Christ. Matero LCA was founded and is operated by Family Legacy Missions International (FLMI).

Access to Education in Zambia

Zambia has not achieved complete universal primary school completion, even though they have made efforts to improve access to education. The national statistics show that 91.8% of students finish Grade 7, but this number is hidden by a regional gap. In the north region, only 81.3% of students finish Grade 7, and in Lusaka at the rate of 78.6 percent completion.

For young children, the quality of care, learning, and education services is often poor. Girls continue to be at a disadvantage, with many of them dropping out of school in upper primary and secondary grades. Additionally, many girls do not transition well to junior and senior secondary schools. (UNICEF)

Additionally, girls in secondary school often lack access to feminine hygiene resources. They may also have a low valuation placed on their education in certain cultures. Additionally, adolescent pregnancy and child marriages are common among girls in secondary school.
